Lee Redfearn III is a proud Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Houston, Moores School of Music with Bachelor degrees in Music Education and Saxophone Performance.
While at Houston, he was principal of the Wind Ensemble and served in that role in their performance at TMEA in 2011. He was also a member of the Jazz Orchestra and had the opportunity to play with trombonist Andy Martin and saxophonist Seamus Blake.
He is a former member of two nationally-recognized saxophone quartets, Paradigm, and Blue Static. The Blue Static Saxophone Quartet performed in many prestigious competitions including the MTNA, Coleman Chamber Music Association Competition, and the Fischoff National Chamber Music Association Competition where they won the Silver Medal prize in the Wind Division in 2011.
The quartet is featured with the Moores School of Music Wind Ensemble on an album of wind ensemble compositions by Nicolas Flagello and Arnold Rosner, on Naxos Records (8.573060-Naxos).
He is a proud endorser and Artist for Légère Reeds.
He attended Langham Creek High school and performed at the 2005 Midwest Clinic and the 2007 TMEA Convention as a member of the 2006 5A Honor Band.
He started his band director career at Plano East Senior High School where they qualified for the UIL State Marching Contest on two occasions and earned the Sudler Shield and Sudler Flag. His bands won numerous First-Division ratings at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest as well as several “Best-in-Class” awards at festival performances.
He is excited to be back closer to home in Houston, and cherish the opportunity to be a part of the Legendary Conroe Tiger Band.
